Therapy for neurodivergent folks navigating trauma, PMDD, burnout, and emotional overwhelm.

You are not too much. You are not broken. And you do not have to keep surviving by masking, over-functioning, and abandoning yourself.

At Modern Solutions Therapy, I support folks ages 18–35 who are navigating trauma, neurodivergence, PMDD symptoms, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, and the exhaustion of trying to hold everything together. Together, we work toward understanding your nervous system, reconnecting with your needs, and building a life that feels more honest, sustainable, and yours.

Who I Work With You might feel like you are constantly trying to keep up with a world that was not built with your brain, body, or nervous system in mind. Many of my clients are women who have spent years masking, people-pleasing, overachieving, shutting down, burning out, or blaming themselves for struggling. They may experience intense emotional shifts, rejection sensitivity, chronic overwhelm, PMDD symptoms, trauma responses, perfectionism, relationship anxiety, or a deep sense of not knowing who they are underneath survival mode. I work especially well with neurodivergent women, ADHDers, autistic women, highly sensitive people, cycle-breakers, and those who are beginning to understand their experiences through a trauma-informed lens.

How Therapy Can Help Therapy can be a place to slow things down enough to finally understand what has been happening inside of you. In our work together, we may explore how trauma, neurodivergence, hormones, attachment patterns, family dynamics, and nervous system responses are all interacting. We might work on emotional regulation, trauma processing, boundaries, self-trust, PMDD coping strategies, unmasking, relationship patterns, shame, burnout, and reconnecting with your identity. This is not about fixing who you are. It is about helping you understand yourself more deeply, support your nervous system more effectively, and build a life that feels less like survival and more like self-leadership.

Therapy for PMDD Symptoms PMDD can feel like becoming a different version of yourself each month — more anxious, more irritable, more hopeless, more sensitive, or more disconnected from the grounded version of you that exists outside of the luteal phase. Therapy cannot erase the biological reality of PMDD, but it can help you better understand your patterns, track your symptoms, prepare for vulnerable phases of your cycle, reduce shame, communicate your needs, and build coping strategies that support your nervous system. In our work together, we can explore the emotional, relational, sensory, and trauma-related layers that may become more intense around your cycle, while also supporting you in advocating for medical care when needed.

Therapy for Neurodivergent Women Neurodivergent women are often praised for being capable, thoughtful, intuitive, creative, and high-functioning — while privately feeling exhausted, overstimulated, emotionally flooded, and disconnected from themselves. You may have learned to mask, perform, people-please, over-explain, overachieve, or collapse quietly when no one is watching. You may be grieving the years you spent thinking you were lazy, dramatic, too sensitive, or not trying hard enough. Neurodivergent-affirming therapy is not about forcing you to become more “normal.” It is about helping you understand your brain, honour your sensory and emotional needs, reduce internalized shame, and create a life that actually fits.

Trauma Therapy for Women Trauma is not just what happened to you. It is also what your nervous system had to do to help you survive. You may notice trauma showing up as anxiety, shutdown, perfectionism, people-pleasing, emotional numbness, relationship insecurity, dissociation, shame, anger, or feeling like you are always waiting for something to go wrong. In trauma therapy, we move gently. We work with your pace, your body, your protective patterns, and the parts of you that learned to survive in painful circumstances. The goal is not to rush into old wounds, but to build enough safety, stability, and self-understanding that healing becomes possible.

Hi, I’m Shannon!!

I’m a Registered Psychotherapist Qualifying who supports women navigating trauma, neurodivergence, PMDD symptoms, emotional overwhelm, and the complicated process of coming home to themselves.

My approach is warm, collaborative, trauma-informed, and neurodivergent-affirming. I believe therapy should be a place where you do not have to perform wellness, explain yourself perfectly, or make your pain more palatable to be understood.

I bring together Internal Family Systems, DBT, somatic and nervous-system-informed therapy, attachment work, and practical emotional regulation tools. I care deeply about helping clients understand the “why” underneath their patterns, while also building realistic tools for everyday life.
